Information for the summer season 2021

The safety of our guests and employees is our highest priority. In order to treat each other responsibly and ensure an uninterrupted experience, we ask you to comply with the following measures. We have taken all the necessary steps so that you can experience an unforgettable visit with the greatest possible safety. Please respect our COVID-19 rules for safe coexistence.

Is it necessary to register in advance of the visit?

No. Only during the summer months the ascent and descent with the gondola must be booked in advance.

Where must a FFP-2 face mask be worn?

FFP-2 face masks are mandatory 

  • in buildings and toilets
  • in the gondola/cabin including stations
  • in the bus

compulsory for everyone from the age of 14!  For children between the age of 6 and 14, the mouth-nose protection is enough. Children under the age of 6 are not required to wear a mask.

You have to bring your own FFP-2 face masks (you can also purchase on site at the cash desk for EUR 2.00 each). Each guest also receives a free buff when purchasing a ticket.

Are the gondolas ventilated and regularly disinfected?

The gondolas are ventilated as well as possible and regularly disinfected.

What options are there to buy my ticket?

Recommendation: Buy the ticket in advance as part of the online reservation and save yourself the trip to the cash desk

Season ticket holders and guests with the Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card do not have to go to the cash desk, but can go straight through to the gondola entrance.

What do I need to know for the  visit of the Ice Palace?

The Ice Palace is open, access is only via the suspension bridge and the stairway to nothingness. Since this attraction is an indoor leisure facility, according to the COVID-19 regulation, the following measures apply, which must be observed from the turnstile at the suspension bridge:

  • A test, vaccination or antibody certificate (medical confirmation) must be presented.
  • You must register using the QR code.
  • A face mask is not mandatory in the Ice Palace.

What do I need to know for the  visit of the suspension bridge and the stairway to nothingness.

  • The suspension bridge and the stairway to nothingness are open. The ticket for these attractions (Ice Palace excluded) can be purchased at the cash desk at the suspension bridge.
  • Entry and exit are only via the suspension bridge.
  • A face mask is not mandatory.

Is the Dachstein glacier restaurant open?

The Dachstein glacier restaurant is open. 
According to the COVID-19 regulations, the following measures must be observed in the full service area of the Dachstein glacier restaurant:

  • A test, vaccination or antibody certificate (medical confirmation) must be presented.
  • You must register at the Dachstein glacier restaurant using the QR code. 

Is it possible to do a self-test on site?

No, we do not offer a self-test on site. At the Dachstein glacier restaurant and at the Ice Palace a test, vaccination or antibody certificate is mandatory.

What do I need to know for the sunrise & sunset package?

According to the COVID-19 regulations, the following measures must be observed:

  • A test, vaccination or antibody certificate (medical confirmation) must be presented (the 3G proof is queried at the cash desk). 
  • You must register at the Dachstein glacier restaurant using the QR code. 

It is mandatory to reserve a descent for 11:00 a.m. or later after the sunrise.

How do you get to the Dachstein Gletscherbahn cable car?

Use of the Dachstein toll road with your own car is free for cable car users. 
When you drive up, you will receive the toll ticket, which must be validated at the Dachstein mountain station. This makes the use of the toll road free of charge.

When taking the Dachstein glacier bus (RVB bus) you only have to pay for the bus ticket or scan your Summer Card. With a valid reservation for the Dachstein Gletscherbahn cable car there is no toll fee.

How will I be informed about the Corona safety regulations on site?

Information signs and loudspeaker announcements on site will keep you informed of the current COVID-19 safety regulations. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask our staff. 

Which measures apply to the cable car employees?

  • All employees who are in direct customer contact within areas where FFP-2 face masks are mandatory either wear a FFP-2 face mask or are physically separated from you by suitable protective measures (e.g. plexiglass).
  • The employees of the cable car companies are trained or instructed according to uniform guidelines and regulations about the COVID-19 safety measures.
  • In the event of suspicion, tests are carried out immediately and employees are immediately isolated from the company organisation.
  • We have an employee responsible for COVID-19 who plans and implements the measures.

Pay attention to the information signs on site and follow the measures.

Contact tracing app 

The contact tracing app "STOPP CORONA" from the Austrian Red Cross helps you fight the spread of the coronavirus. We recommend that you use it. 


We adhere to all government guidelines and adapt our guidelines to any changes.
